Aberdyfi, one of Gwynedd’s most attractive coastal villages, stands in an idyllic spot where mountains meet the sea at the mouth of the River Dyfi.

Operating from Barmouth Quay, Barmouth Boat Trips offer dolphin spotting pleasure trips and fishing charters on the Warrior which can accommodate 11 passengers.

The slate in this mine, which is found in veins between layers of ancient Pre-Cambrian rocks, is among the oldest in the world. Many industrial towns in Britain and Ireland have the original roofs made of Llanfair slate.

Gorseddau quarry in Cwmstradllyn had been worked on a small scale since 1836 but was actively developed from 1854.
