The North Wales Way: A Welsh Journey
Starting at the Wales/England border and running westwards for 75 miles/120km to the tip of Anglesey, The North Wales Way is one of three Wales Way touring routes created to guide and inspire visitors. Each ‘Way’ has been designed as a fluid experience, not a route that’s set in stone, with plenty of diversions off the main path that allow you to explore further and deeper.
This four-day itinerary highlights uniquely Welsh places and experiences. As you travel, you’ll explore a language, culture and heritage that can only be found here in Wales.
The Coastal Way: A Welsh Journey
Running along the entire sweep of Cardigan Bay, from Aberdaron in the north to St Davids in the south, the 180-mile/290km Coastal Way is one of three Wales Way national touring routes. Rather than a rigid set of directions, each ‘Way’ is a flexible route with plenty of opportunities to venture off the main path, following loops and detours so that you can create your very own personal journey.

Myths and Legends
The culture and identity of the Snowdonia region has been significantly influenced by the myths, legends, folklore, giants, monsters and magic that are associated with almost every lake, hill, mountain and village. The Welsh tradition of storytelling has ensured that these rich and varied tales are still as vibrant today as they were in their early beginnings in the mists of time. Wherever you visit in Snowdonia Mountains and Coast, the past, its magic, mythology and legends are around every corner.

Cycling the Brailsford Way
Launched in 2016, the Brailsford Way is cycling supremo Sir Dave Brailsford’s tribute to the mountains that made him. Before leading the British Cycling Team to multiple Olympic golds and overseeing numerous Tour de France successes with Team Sky, Welsh-speaking Sir Dave grew up in the village of Deiniolen near Llanberis, cutting his riding teeth on Snowdonia’s challenging climbs and dizzying descents.
Bangor
Small but lively city and university town. Bangor Cathedral has ancient roots – this religious site can be traced back to the 6th century. The former Bishop’s Palace has been refurbished as the new home for the museum and gallery, called Storiel. Art and local artefacts are on display here, along with an information hub for Ein Treftadaeth – Our Heritage.
Bala and Penllyn Cycling Routes
There are extensive and varied opportunities for cycling either in the Bala and Penllyn area or nearby. These opportunities include quiet local roads for cycling, car-free routes and challenging hill-climbs with passes over 1,000 feet high. Note that in mountainous areas roads may be steep, narrow and with drops to the side.
Below are examples of routes included in the downloadable leaflet.
Route 11: Bala - Llanuwchllyn
