Probably built by Llywelyn ab Iorwerth ('the Great') early in the thirteenth century, the castle is dominated by a massive round-towered keep, still standing up to 50 feet (15.2m) high.
Please note that Electric Mountain is temporarily closed for refurbishment and upgrading. We hope to be back in the new and improved Visitor Centre by 2020.
This lovely little line runs alongside Llyn Padarn in the Padarn Country Park for a there-and-back journey of five miles. Stop off for a lakeside picnic at Cei Llydan, or visit the National Slate Museum at Gilfach Ddu.
The description ‘Country Park’ doesn’t really do this place justice. Ranged around the lake of Llyn Padarn, there’s everything here from watersports to walking, wildlife to industrial heritage, woodlands to inspiring mountain views.
Set in seven acres of grounds, overlooking the Isle of Anglesey, Plas Menai is open all year around and is the perfect destination for anybody looking for outstanding watersports and outdoor adventure.
