Welsh knitting kits launch Seven new knitting kits have been designed by Anglesey designer Hilary Collins for Trefriw Woollen Mills. The pure wool knitting yarn supplied in the kits is carded, spun, doubled and dyed at Trefriw Woollen Mills and the finished accessories are given an individual look by the Welsh brushed tapestry embellishments in the form of a flower motif.

The patterns are for knitting a beanie and gauntlets set (for adult or child), a neck warmer/hat, a snood, a wrap, a small shoulder bag, and a frilled scarf.  The kits are suitable for beginners or people who are returning to knitting as well as more experienced knitters.  The yarn in the kits is aran weight which knits up quickly.

The kits are available in six colours:- natural white, red, slate (blue), ocean (green), coral and navy aran knitting wool with matching brushed tapestry material for the motif.

The packaging and the knitting patterns are in both English and Welsh.  Help on the design side and translations was given by the Bauhaus Conwy Initiative.

The kits were launched at the Textile Market at Trefriw Woollen Mills on Saturday December 5th and Sunday December 6th.   The Textile Market is a showcase for designers and craftspeople from North Wales and features hand made gifts such as felted hats and mitts, knitted scarfs, batik lanterns, hand embroidered cushions, knitted dolls, wrapped cards and wall hangings as well as fibres, yarns and equipment for spinners, knitters, felters and embroiderers.
