Things to do

These include two narrow-gauge railways (one to the top of Snowdon), Padarn Country Park, National Slate Museum (which has the biggest waterwheel on mainland Britain), Dolbadarn Castle (built by native Welsh prince Llywelyn ab Iorwerth, Llywelyn the Great), craft shops and Electric Mountain underground trip.

Real Challenge

If you want a real challenge find out more about two big local events – the International Snowdon Race and the Snowdon Marathon.

Heritage Nature Trails

Back in Llanberis you can follow themed heritage and nature trails. It’s an activity-packed place – other pastimes include cycling, mountain biking, pony trekking, watersports, scuba diving and gentle boat trips.

Walkers

It’s also a hugely popular centre for walkers and climbers. Llanberis is the start of the easiest – but longest – route to the top of Snowdon. And when you reach the summit you can relax in the new Hafod Eryri Visitor Centre which opened in 2009
