Porthdinllaen

The old fishing village of Porthdinllaen has a deep-rooted attachment to the sea. The sandy beach spreads itself along a perfect cove and natural harbour, with a Lifeboat Station at one end. At one time there were plans to make Porthdinllaen a major port for the Ireland crossing, though thankfully nothing came of them. Perfectly preserved and rich in natural beauty, it’s now in the care of the National Trust. Children can keep themselves busy trying to catch crabs or paddling in the sea while adults enjoy a drink on the terraces of the Tŷ Coch Tavern, a waterfront inn that has become something of a local celebrity. Porthdinllaen’s period charm is further enhanced by the fact that the nearest public car park is 10 minutes away.
