Championship Course
All serious golfers will have heard of Nefyn. It’s home to one of Britain’s most challenging championship courses – located on an exposed headland, it has been likened to ‘playing off a battleship’.
Fishing Past
The village’s 18th- and 19th-century herring fishing past is featured in the Maritime Museum within St Mary’s Church. The village also has evidence of the old salt houses used during these times.
Northern Llŷn
In common with nearby Tudweiliog, Nefyn is a handy base for exploring northern Llŷn.
Landmark
Nefyn’s history can be traced to medieval times. It was first referred to in the 11th century, and in 1284 King Edward I hosted a tournament here to celebrate his conquest over Wales at Cae Iorwerth (Edward’s Field), a landmark that survives to this day.
